The day after we returned from WPPI this year we signed the lease on the studio space we'd been looking at. We chose an office/warehouse combo just off of I-90 (for very easy access) in Spokane Valley so we could have both a place to meet with customers and build sets for our shoots. In the time we've been doing this photography business, we've run into both bad weather and a lack of space to do certain types of shoots, so we figured now was the time.
The total square footage is just a bit under 2000, with about 1600 of warehouse space and the remainder for office. We plan on building it out so it has a very cozy, homey feel. There are a few months worth of work still to go for sure, but I didn't want to wait to at least post a first look.
For our wedding clients, we're building the front two rooms mostly for that. The first room will be a sort of gallery with prints on the walls and our album samples to look at. The second room will be a viewing area; we'll have you over after we finish editing the photos to take a first look and get some of your print selections made. We're hoping that this will let us get you some of the items in your wedding package a lot quicker, so if you're working on fitting out that new house or apartment you'll already have a print or two.
Most of the furniture hasn't arrived quite yet (seems nothing we like is ever in stock locally), but it's coming — we promise! We'd like to say thanks to Casey and Aaron for coming over anyway and being our first booking in the new place. We met them last Sunday and booked them for a September wedding this year.
We've been working on it near-daily since we signed the lease and have finished some stuff, but there's still so much to go! Here is a mix of some before and after photos of parts we have made some progress on.
